How to choose drill bits for woodworking?

Nowadays, there are so many types of woodworking drill bits that many customers do not know which type is the one they need. This passage will give you some ideas.
Twist Drills.: Twist drills have cylindrical steel shanks and point tips.

The sizes of most twist drills' blades are as big as their shanks.A pair of helical flutes (sometimes called chip channels) run along two-thirds of its length, twisted around the shank like the stripes on a barber's pole.
The price of twist drill is cheaper than other bits, but the hole of the bits made is not accurate. It is used on many occasions with a flat bottom drill to ensure accuracy.By steel body, twist drills can not withstand high temperature, so you can not use it with rotating speed. Your machining efficiency will also be limited.
Twist drills are more suitable for self-employed or users whose equipment is not relatively backward.

Spade Bits. These bits look as their name implies: each steel shaft terminates with a shovel blade. The shovel is flat with a sharp point in the middle. This point acts as a guide to center the hole and guide the direction, but most of the drilling is actually done by the honing cutting edge on the shoulder of the shovel.
Due to the simple design of spade bits, it does not have good chip evacuation ability. At the same time, due to the plane design of the cutting edge, the punching efficiency of spade bit is very poor.
So, for accuracy, spade bits are better than twist drills. But its machining efficiency should be the worst of all drills.
Twist drills are more suitable for self-employed who use electrical tools.

Brad Point Drills: In order to meet the needs of high-speed machining, brad point drill bit was invented. Brad point drill bit combines the advantages of spade bit and twist drill. There is a drill point in the middle as a guide, and there are two cutting edges on both sides to ensure the diameter of the hole. And brad point drill bits also have spiral grooves to increase the drilling depth capability. The design of the shank is also to ensure that it can be better used on CNC machines.
And we have also developed and launched a variety of different types of brad point drill bits for customers to use in different situations. ZY drill bits are suitable for low-speed(1000-3000S/min) machining. KJ-2 drill bits are suitable for medium-speed(2000-4000S/min) machining. KJ-1 drill bits are suitable for high-speed(3000-6000S/min) machining.
Brad point drill bits is the best choice for customers who have CNC machines.

Countersink Drills. Specially made bits are sold that drill pilot holes for wood screws. Countersink drills have profiles to match the shape of the screws: The holes they drill taper gradually along the length of the screw, then enlarge, allowing the heads of the screws to be set (countersunk) into the wood.It is suitable for CNC woodworking machine.

Forstner Bits. These clever bits drill holes with virtually flat bottoms. Rather than having a steeply ground tip that is followed by angled cutting edges, the Forstner bit is guided by the rim. Channels in the drill clear the hole of chips and dust. The resulting hole has a virtually flat bottom, marred only by a 1/32-inch hole at center where the starter spur of the drill is located.

Forstner bits are relatively expensive, and they aren’t necessary for most jobs. However, they are essential for others, like mounting hinges that must be recessed into a round hole that extends only partway through the door stile. (If you were to use a spade bit for the same purpose, its point would probably protrude through to the other side, marring the surface.) It is suitable for CNC woodworking machine.
